The Wardrobe of Mr. Ellis

I've always loved historical fashion. So when I made this character, Roy Ellis, for a RP set in the 1800s, I knew I'd have to do a wardrobe picture sometime! And now I finally got around to it.

I think my favourite to research, though the most elusive, was the swimwear. Because when I generally think of vintage suits, I think of the ones in the 1920s, where the men had those classic white and blue striped tank-tops and shorts. But in the 1800s, they were more modest, and thus had full blown outfits. The women even wore long dresses, but that's a talk for another time.

All of these outfits are based on photos and illustrated advertisements from the time, none are just made up. Though I had to take some guesses for the colours!
